The problems experienced by David are typical and characteristic for any English Language learner and can occur as a result of a poor learning environment and lack of supportive resources.To begin with David starts learning English through self-effort by reading English articles and trying to rewrite them. One of the articles he cites is the volume in the Spectator that he describes as very influential and facilitative in assisting him learn, the order or words and ideal length and arrangement to bring about rhyme and intonation. He develops an interest in reading various books and doing exercises to learn more about English. However, he faces quite a number of challenges in the learning process. For example, he lacks an ideal study time being forced to read at night or in the m orning before work, he had limited time to practice whatever he had learned and inadequate financial resources to purchase extra reading materials. For instance, he had to cut down on his expenditure on meals to save for reading materials.
